"creating...access,...positively impacting the environment..." (?!) This is incredibly dishonest, deceitful and disturbing, even by fossil fuel company standards (from the US owners of Shannon LNG).

1/ In March Govt approved a costly, polluting state-owned LNG terminal. Now Minister O'Brien is leaving door open to dangerous US backed LNG project in Kerry. This breaks climate commitments, raises new geopolitical risks and does nothing for energy security.

Concerns voiced over liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals at Cork protest They expressed concerns that the government’s scrapping of the policy banning imports of fracked gas earlier this year has opened the door to LNG ...

Thanks Amy Campbell and the Echo for reporting the Not Here Not Anywhere demonstration in Cork on Saturday.

It was in support of the motion in my name that Cork City Council should continue to back investment in offshore renewables in the region and not be distracted by talk of fracked LNG imports.

OR new data centres highly dependent on more polluting gas and diesel generation, and looking to reserve renewables for themselves?

TLDR we need to prioritise communities and reign in runaway data centre demand.

We now have ESBN & GNI on record that they can't prevent data centre connections. Upshot is no limits on data centres outside of Dublin + expansion of sites in Dublin - skyrocketing demand, impacts on housing, higher costs, gas dependency & emissions. Urgent need for legislative + policy change!

I've seen a lot of commentary about 'shifting goalposts' for farmers from agri lobbyists over the last 2 days. The goalposts haven't shifted, the government just ignored them until now. The Habitats Directive has been in force since 1992, it's high time they were properly applied to agri pollution.

The far right’s climate power grab The Patriots for Europe, a new far-right force in Brussels, has won the right to lead the European Parliament’s 2040 climate target discussions.

This is very bad news. What's more incredible is that EPP could have outbid the far right and didn't.

The complacency around the threat posed by the far-right to Europe's climate agenda is shocking.

Europe's reliance on fossil fuel imports funds autocratic regimes, creating a dangerous vulnerability.

The transition to clean, homegrown energy isn't just an environmental goal—it's a national security imperative.
