Two women stand under the Emmeline Panhurst statue outside Parliament
Important and emotional day in Parliament hearing @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social read out the names of women who have been killed by men over the past year.
Stopped for a photo outside next to Emmeline ๐

I'm excited to announce that today I join Cause Communications as Associate Director.

The three women who were murdered are referred to in this @MetroUK headline as "BBC manโs wife and daughters" - surely they could have been referred to in their own right? If not named then their ages or occupations, not who they were in relation to him.

Thanks to Jeremy Vine for having me on BBC Radio 2 with Harriet Wistrich to discuss the Kiena Dawes case.
Yesterdayโs verdict shows how often mental health is weaponised to excuse abuse.
I stand with families seeking justice. Abuse is the root cause.
Listen back from 12:14:45 โฌ๏ธ
Ryan Wellings, who abused and coercively controlled Kiena Dawes for two years, threatening her with acid and to use a drill to take out her teeth, was today CLEARED of manslaughter after her suicide.
Todayโs result is an abhorrent injustice. This is murder in slow motion โฌ๏ธ

13.01.2025 18:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Stuart Hogg walks free after 5 years of coercive control against his wife. His lenient sentence raises urgent questions about how we address domestic abuse.
โI feel like Stuartโs had absolutely no punishment. My first thought was, is that it? Itโs not enough,โ said Gillian Hogg.

SHERA Research Group statement of support for MP Jess Phillips We write this statement to show our solidarity with Minister for Safeguarding Jess Phillips MP and to firmly condemn the heinous and dangerous attacks on her. Jess has an impeccable record of challenging sexism and working with and supporting victim-survivors, spanning over 15 years from her work in Womenโs Aid and managing multiple refuges, through to years of lobbying criminal and family justice systems and beyond on behalf of victims. She โwalks the walkโ and takes an active frontline role in her support of victims and has helped secure safety for thousands of women and children, including many we work with. She has written fiercely about these issues in books and shaped ground-breaking policy, numerous bills supporting victims and led and contributed to many parliamentary debates. For the past nine years, she has compassionately read a list in parliament ahead of International Womenโs Day of women killed by men or where a man is the principal suspect in the UK and supported the families of these women. She and her office have actively supported our work and many, many others in seeking to reduce the harm to health and human rights violations facing women and children in the family courts. The attacks brought against her have resulted yet again in severe threats to her safety, well-being and life. We must not forget that similar attacks led to the murder of her friend and colleague, MP Jo Cox. We are deeply grateful for her tireless work and commitment to tackling male violence against women and children (MVAWC).
