I never noticed the mosaic during the daylight hours (probably never properly looked). I was wondering if they were a light effect tonight. What a lovely detail.

Who gets to read or hear us online is decided by algorithms. If speech were truly free, algorithms wouldnโ€™t exist. Weโ€™d just see and hear from those we followed in the chronological order they posted things.

You can almost say or type what you want, but speech is a two way thing. If nobody can hear you say it, does it even count as speech?

โ€œthe EC means to strangle free speech by a systemic assault on US companies"

Am I in a minority by thinking that anything posted on any social media platform is more โ€œcontrolledโ€ speech than free speech?

Every post everywhere is controlled in the way it appears to others.

James Browne is in FF. Instead of whinging that met eireann didn't give flood alerts he could get off his hole and look around at the lack of action that his party has taken on climate for decades.
There will be more severe, unpredictable flooding. Yet JB and FF are content to nothing

The BM catalogue says 'Tortoise, and separate view of a walled, coastal town in the Veneto' for this by Melchior Lorck, mid-16th century.

I'm sticking with giant flying tortoise myself.

If you havenโ€™t seen the documentary โ€œThe Last Emperorโ€ it is well worth a watch. It catches all of the talent, the glamour and the creativity, but also the drama and some of the childish petulance. Such is the world of fashion I surmise.
