Also, I think it was @seamas.bsky.social who told the most wonderful story of getting his days at work wrong and ending up in a room with Mary McAleese while high on ketamine. Peak Celtic Tiger πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

We should be building homes in Ireland, not making other people stupidly rich by renting them.

This is everything that’s wrong with Ireland - the market is not going to fix it.

Claim: "Water vapor is a greenhouse gas!"
Reality: Yes, and there's more of it in a warmer atmosphere

-"CO2 is plant food!"
-pretty hard to eat when you're on fire

-"Climate has changed before!"
-We know, we told you that

-"Scientists don't know everything!"
- doesn't mean we know *nothing*

β€˜We are dying slowly, save us’: starvation takes hold in Gaza after a week of appalling milestones Parents watch children waste away as deliberate aid restrictions from Israel mean hunger is becoming a killer, as experts confirm famine is currently playing out

All the while on the phone complaining about the quality of Lidl’s bread. She then politely turned to me + said β€œsorry”, apologizing for the delay she was causing, and blithely went on her way with a loaf (+ a bit) in her bag, leaving a mauled and unusable loaf behind her scattered over two shelves.

I’ve seen it all now. I popped into Lidl to get a loaf of bread. The lady in front of me was slicing hers. When sliced, she proceeded to leaf through the bread and remove several slices, then replace them with slices from a loaf she had clearly sliced before and left on the shelf …

Over 300 derelict properties across Galway set to be turned into homes as funding of €2.1m approved More than €2 million has been awarded to homeowners in County Galway to tackle the region’s growing number of derelict and vacant properties.

Sounds positive but it says property hoarders in Galway can get grants but they don't have to pay dereliction taxes
Galway Co. Council have only 4 properties on Derelict Sites Register
So why aren't all 300 properties registered, paying levies?

Claims online, claims online, claims online … all false.

Until people publishing lies online can be prosecuted and fined (as they would if they published in print), there’s little hope of genuine, stable democracy surviving - only of international companies getting rich on advertising πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Q.41 COUNCILLOR FELJIN JOSE
To ask the Chief Executive for:
1. The total amount owed to the Council in derelict sites levies
2. The number of sites on the derelict sites register
3. The number of ongoing derelict sites investigations
CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S REPLY:
1. There are currently €10,111,370 outstanding in Derelict Sites Levies.
2. The number of sites on the Derelict Sites Register is 128
3. The number of ongoing derelict sites investigations/active files is 772. In 2024 635
investigations/inspections were completed. In Q1 of 2025 there have been 144
/investigations/inspections completed to end of March.
Q.42 COUNCILLOR FELJIN JOSE
To ask the Chief Executive for:
1) The total amount owed to the Council in vacant sites levies
2) The number of sites on the vacant sites register
3) The number of ongoing vacant sites investigations.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S REPLY:
There are 34 vacant sites on Dublin City Council’s Vacant Sites Register. Currently
there are levies in the amount of €17,161,350 owing to Dublin City Council. The
Vacant Sites Unit raises demands for payment annually and reminders for payment
are also issued.
The Vacant Sites Levy has now been replaced with a new Residential Zoned Land Tax
(RZLT) which was introduced in the Finance Act 2021. The first liability date of the tax
was 1st February 2025 and the administration of the RZLT is undertaken by the
Revenue Commissioners. Any outstanding vacant sites levy charges will be registered
as a charge on the land.

€10 million in derelict sites levies owed to Dublin City Council and €17 million in vacant sites levies -- that starts to add up to real money that could provide services, build things, fix things, etc.

I obviously can't speak for other jews, but to me the world's richest man tweaking his AI so that it now describes things it doesn't like on a scale of "bagel to full Shabbat" and "Peak Jewish" is a somewhat higher priority than people being mean about the IDF at Glasto.
