Climate Change Committee’s Carbon Budgets response The Climate Change Committee’s advice on carbon budgets lays bare the challenge of improving the energy efficiency of Scottish homes.

Changeworks recently commented on the Climate Change Committee’s advice for Scotland carbon budgets to 2045, which highlighted the need to support households to install low carbon heating and home insulation:

Thousands to get payouts over forced prepayment meter fitting More than £70m is being paid to customers who were forced to switch to prepaying for energy.

The BBC reports that affected customers could finally receive payouts after these suppliers wrongly forced people onto prepay meters.

You may be owed compensation if this happened between 2017 and 2023 and your supplier was Scottish Power, EDF, E.ON, Octopus, Utility Warehouse, Good Energy, Tru Energy or Ecotricity.

As part of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, we're backing the Scotland United for Climate Action campaign.

The RAW Project | Tackling Fuel Poverty in the Highlands Changeworks is a partner in the Rural Affordable Warmth Project. We provide energy advice, fuel poverty alleviation, debt, and welfare advice.

This support is crucial in the Highlands, where fuel poverty is disproportionately higher than in the rest of Scotland.

Our Community Engagement and Energy Advice Services team recently hit its targets for the Rural Affordable Warmth (RAW) project. Through partnership with Citizen’s Advice Bureaus in the Highlands, we’ve combined energy, debt and welfare advice, with fuel poverty alleviation.
