LGBT+ Labour have said nothing about the appointment of Mary-Ann Stephenson or Bridget Phillipson ignoring the WEC and JCHR to do so.

It is blindingly clear that the current committee neither has the confidence of the trans community or deserve it.

We need change.
We demand an AGM.

If it was a difficult legal decision, you’d have expected them to have made it *before* the AGM was announced, not 24 hours before registrations closed when their Committee positions were in danger of being lost!

The decision that the LGBT Labour National Committee made this evening to cancel our AGM at the last minute is an unprecedented overreach of their authority, will allow them to stay in office longer than our constitution allows and is blindingly anti-democratic.

This is outrageous by the London centric @LGBTLabour

I’ve paid for my train ticket from Bristol, non-refundable to keep the cost down. That’s money I’m now going to lose 😡.

They can kick the AGM down the road & give themselves more time to organise, but we’re still standing.

This afternoon, LGBT+ Labour's leadership informed the National Committee that they'll be delaying the AGM to an unspecified date, on the justification that it's unclear whether trans people will be allowed to run as their own gender. Make no mistake: the National Committee are doing this because they’re running scared and knew we would win a democratic vote next weekend. If they planned to make these changes to the elections, they would have done so before our slate was announced, not when our campaign was picking up steam. It’s beyond disgusting that an LGBT+ organisation is willing to betray its trans members in such a fundamental way just to cling on to committee positions. It is not, however, a surprise: it simply confirms what we already knew about the cliquey, careerist and top-down way in which the organisation has been operating. LGBT+ Labour has failed to speak up for trans members, and is now content to deny their existence. We fully intend to contest the LGBT+ Labour AGM and give members a proper choice. We will also use every route available to us to contest the extraordinary decision that has been made. If you’re not already an LGBT+ Labour member, join up now and help us get ready for the AGM. A standout for me is that voters consider themselves to be among the least influential groups on policy. Getting big money out of politics is not only essential on obvious moral and democratic grounds, but could boost turnout by making people know that their vote matters.

This is a great read with lots of excellent policy suggestions.

Their easy win recommendations for this parliament are:

• Automatic voter registration

• £100,000 annual cap on political donors

• Votes at 16

• An election day service

I'm seeing a lot of takes based on this data, that uses surveys of local councilors of each MP's party. Though it probably has its uses, I'd take a method that puts Zarah Sultana to the right of Wes Streeting with a grain of salt.

I will be voting in the AGM for people who will stand up to transphobia. My CLP has already passed a motion on the blocker ban. I have submitted complaints against multiple transphobic members.

And I agree, "allies" in the party need to be doing the sorts of things you have mentioned.
