Personally, I think bright light should be communicated in the line art itself. The colour is doing too much "heavy lifting", it should only be used for mood and focus. I realise that this is quite subjective.

This an example, though I've seen worse. See the car headlight beams and the light from the pub bar covering the line art.

Personally, I feel that poor digital colour can be the most detrimental part of comic collaboration, especially when colour intrudes above the line art. If I see another yellow gradient attempting to imitate electric light, I will scream.
