r/analytics • IOh We just found out our AI has been making up analytics data for 3 months and I'm gonna throw up. Support So we've been using an Al agent since November to answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations, everyone loved it. I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this entire time. Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing plausible sounding percentages. I only caught it by accident when someone asked me to double check something. I started digging, and holy shit, it's bad.

A big collection of pride pins in lots of different flags. There are pronoun pins, frogs, birds, trees, dropout gamechanger loop-de-loops, pins that say "It's Dr actually", flowers, and more!

As a queer scientist making Pride pins to pay for my transition, it means a lot to see them worn at big events like this. Massive thanks to @zackpolanski.bsky.social for boosting that visibility! I was hired to work on a MAJOR live action Hollywood film (and I mean it’s one of the biggest anticipated films of the year). They needed a small animated sequence and wanted a character designer. I was handed a ChatGPT image and told “make it different”. I did - I spent hours finessing the design into something better and more specific for the character in the film. Waited a week for notes - then was told they got clearance from legal to use the original AI image instead. No need for any further work. This is what the director wanted. What are we doing as a society? What’s the endgame here? Replace every human until we are all homeless? I just don’t get it. If a major Hollywood film with a huge budget doesn’t see the need to work with real artists, is there any hope left?

Dude regularly works for Disney, DreamWorks, Netflix and CN so speculate away. But this sucks no matter which studio is doing it, and gross to think some major movie this year is running with a plagiarized image from ChatGPT.

I think Jim Ratcliffe should get what he deserves: being played by Steve Coogan in an unsympathetic drama about an interview.

Morgan McSweeney has resigned from his role of chief of staff to the prime minister. Many MPs blamed him for the appointment of Peter Mandeslon to ambassador of the US. Mandelson was sacked from that position in September, but has come under further pressure following new Epstein files, which suggest he shared confidential information with the convicted sex offender when he was the business secretary. The files have led to questions over Sir Keir Starmer's judgement in appointing Mandelson to the top diplomatic position. McSweeney, a friend of Mandelson's, is said to have pushed for him to get the role.
