Annecdotal, and not sure what it means, but: some of our local secondary schools recently put forward a group of 40 of the 'brightest' students to go on an open day to Oxford University. 37/40 students were girls.

I always tried to read it cover to cover, which took up most of the week (in between, of course, work, family etc).

I subscribed many, many years ago and can totally relate to this.
