I visited the cape coast and elmina castles while in accra last month w @bmcg-leyh.bsky.social it was from here that the dutch and british conducted their transatlantic trade of enslaved africans to plantations in the americas. What centuries long horror.

Highly recommend these books! They are brilliant tales from across africa that all speak to stories of colonialism, capitalism and corruption. Ngugi wa thiongo is one of kenyas greatest, as is achebe of nigeria

Today at 2pm local time (The Hague), after >4 years, 300 trial hearings, & 174 witnesses, #ICC judges will deliver their verdict in the trial of Alfred #Yekatom & Patrice-Edouard #Ngaissona.

They are charged with #warcrimes & crimes against humanity in the Central African Republic in 2013-14.

There are several appended declarations to the ICJ Ad Op including by hilary charlesworth and sarah cleveland - keen to read these!!

E. Unanimously, Is of the opinion that States have obligations under international human rights law to respect and ensure the effective enjoyment of human rights by taking necessary measures to protect the climate system and other parts of the environment;
