It's literally a vital feature of both science and of representative democracy.

I've written a fair bit about trust in expertise as a vital mechanism in the collective epistemology of science.

Whom does he want us to trust? The guy who hasn't said a single correct statement since he came into office?

I'd be more comforted by this if Youtube didn't have a notoriously hard time deciding what counts as "kid's" content.

It's amazing that he's still this clueless *after* he was president for four years. Like, absolutely nothing stuck the first time around. I'm almost impressed.

Then again, neither does the idea it's spoofing.

I always took it as a parody of the "ultimate lifeform" idea and the people who take it seriously (you know, how can humans be the pinnacle of evolution when nature obviously favors these silly, simpler designs more?), but I do understand the need to reclarify that it's not actually a thing.

It also made it pretty frustrating getting introduced to people who are "really into game design" only to find out that I was the only one who had any experience (passing or otherwise) with art or coding. They only "had ideas."

They're definitely out there, and I'll be the first to admit that even I can get a little fastidious at times. The actual researchers seem to be much more forgiving, though, and any flaws likely won't get called out unless they're something serious, like putting the eye in the antorbital fenestrae.

Counterpoint: my parents and I live in a rural area where their explicit reasoning (and that of all of our neighbors) was to *not* engage with the community. I can count on one hand all the words I've said to my next-doors before they shut the door or walk away.
