I have always remembered absolutely loving Tom Bombadil, but I forgot about his absolute sass telling the hobbits he's accompanying them because they can't take care of themselves and he's too busy to stay on call while they stumble towards the road. Master indeed.

People always talk about LotR being a slow read. But the hobbits have almost died so many times before even reaching The Prancing Pony. That feels like way too much action to count as slow.

I was immediately in love with LotR when I read it back in high school. I'm revisiting the actual books via audiobook for the first time since then and it feels like coming home. And of course, I have some thoughts.
