Dr Penelope Wilson notes that the upper phases at Sais do not have any Levantine imports.

She concludes the development of the city from an administrative centre to a walled city with less interaction with foreign cultures. #EESstudyday

Pottery fragments were scattered throughout rooms at Said, including a kitchen-style space below, suggesting more Levantine links with their material seen across the site.

It was important to deal with large pot piles and examine how they were originally created. #EESstudyday

As can be seen from the β€˜Great Pit’, there is a significant gap in the history of this archaeological site between the Buto-Maadi to the Saite Period.

Dr Penelope Wilson presents the background to the rise of Sais, and what evidence does remain to learn more about this city. #EESstudyday

Some evidence has been found for king Shoshenq II and fragments of falcon headed sarcophagi, but more excavation is need to answer this question!
