Yeah, in my interactions with them, they said "the devs are on break" - for SIX MONTHS? The game is in a pretty dire state, you'd think they'd have *someone* working on it.

Yeah I made the reddit post on the article and brought it up in the discord. As someone said in discord "everyone here keeps changing the topic to anything but Railroads Online because they're so afraid of acknowledging that the game is near death."

Eh, he's mentioned this like, twice? It takes not much effort to think about it. It's not like doing thought experiments on the subject takes time away from active engineering on getting there. People tend to overinflate how much is being worked on things like this.

As someone who has dealt with that absolute sh*t, my advice is to just be as diligent as possible. Keep up with when deadlines are, make sure you report changes in employment quickly, go to your local department of Workforce Services if you need help figuring anything out.

I look forward to when there are multiple poster sized images needed to document this.

It had a brief moment but I feel like most in the space community just shrugged and moved back to Twitter. You just can't see any updates here like you can with Twitter.

But I'm honestly just tired of both sites. I think I'm going to use YouTube for my space news primarily now.

Chemical will work just fine for like a decade. You are basing this stance on assumptions on the capability of both systems. I definitely want to see nuclear, just not as the first way to get there.

I really think they will. They're doing for stations what SpaceX has done for launch. I look at others that are doing tons of partnerships, building their hardware overseas, etc- and Vast is just starting with a single module that won't be continuously occupied. I think they'll go far.

One of my favorite things to do with my snap circuits was to trick people into completing a circuit and shocking them 😈

The ISS does a great deal of valuable research, particularly in biomedical, such as cancer research only possible in weightlessness.
NASA's budget costs you less than $50 a year, and the ISS is a fraction of that. There are actual complete wastes of government money out there.

May the passage of time prove the victor friend. I state it here, and you may come to mock me ten years from now, by 2034, Starship will have become a massive success, flown crew multiple times, landed on the Moon, and flown cargo to Mars.

10.12.2024 21:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

1] what evidence do you have for the program not doing well
2] It will be cheaper because SpaceX will keep on iterating and iterating until it is - because ya know, that's their actual goal?

10.12.2024 01:39 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't think it'll be that high. The entire point of Starship is to have a lower launch cost than Falcon 9, and their internal cost for that is around $50 m if I recall.

Single digit millions probably will be a while, but Starship will definitely be cheaper.

10.12.2024 00:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I mean it will certainly be much cheaper but I'm thinking more in the $100 million range for crewed lunar flights, especially early ones.
