How Trump Has Brought the Art Market to the Brink of 'Paralysis' | Artnet News
Trump’s second-term tariffs are forcing the art industry to rethink sales strategies, cross-border deals, and fair participation worldwide.
The president’s economic strategies, often announced abruptly and enforced with little warning, are creating ripple effects across industries and the art market is no exception.

A Pueblo tribe recruited scientists to reclaim its ancient American history
DNA supports modern Picuris Pueblo accounts of ancestry going back more than 1,000 years to Chaco Canyon society.
Frustrated that their objections to oil and gas drilling in Chaco Canyon were being ignored, Picuris officials asked University of Copenhagen evolutionary geneticist Eske Willerslev to fill in gaps in their tribal history using genetic data.

Cartels and terrorists love American art — and the money it hides
Art has often been treated as nothing more than an asset by the wealthy, but it need not be one that criminals can use to spread death and misery.
❗The U.S. is by far the world’s largest art market, but it is also one of a dwindling number of jurisdictions where art sales are not subject to any anti-money laundering regulations at all.

Trump is bypassing community input to fast-track energy projects that risk pollution
On his first day as president, Trump declared an energy "emergency" that shrunk the time for public scrutiny of potentially risky projects.
➡️Doing so effectively created a new class of emergency permit to fast track energy projects across the country. But environmental advocates worry this will harm the ability of the public to weigh in on projects that will contribute to climate change and harm sensitive ecosystems.
