more often than not, men in positions of leadership, particularly in the auteur space, have a "pain is beauty"/"art is suffering" approach to creation that i fundamentally disagree with. refreshingly, it seems like Lynch's approach was the polar opposite; "negativity is the enemy of creativity".

it's remarkable how many women and queer folks, from both his personal and professional life, have spoken so highly of David Lynch since his passing. i've only recently dug into his works, but reading these loving tributes makes me want to know more about the man, his art, his creative philosophy.
