The Good Old Days
Pity the poor children
of today, with their calendars
stuffed with chocolates,
never to know the thrill
of opening a small cardboard door
and discovering behind it
a picture of a bell.
Brian Bilston
This poem is dedicated to anyone making a start on their advent calendar today.

To summarize
-waves are not seasonal
-vaccines are waning
-people are getting long covid
-it’s still not an endemic disease
-very young kids are at increased risk because they didn’t go through the initial vaccine series
Oh and it turns out, Covid Cautious people have been right the whole time.

Providing COVID-safe healthcare, always. Long COVID causes silent (and not so silent) organ damage and there is as yet, no cure. You'd be a fool to continue to expose yourself to those risks.

@who.int Director-General's remarks at a media briefing on 10 December 2024:
"We cannot talk about COVID in the past tense. It’s still with us, it still causes acute disease and Long COVID, and it still kills.
The world might want to forget about COVID-19, but we cannot afford to."

LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY - Signing ePetition - Suspend and remove the draft music and drama syllabuses from circulation and restart the review process with improved policy safeguards
If you live in NSW please sign this petition to suspend and remove the draft music and drama HSC syllabuses from circulation and restart the review process.
As someone who is not in the creative arts space, even I can see that these changes will be a huge step backwards.

If one more person reminds me to #BeKind I will…
…not
Toxic kindness is as bad as all the other grim behaviours I talk about
It’s performative, rhetorical & often weaponised to mean “don’t do things I don’t like”
It’s discretionary, silences marginalised voices & maintains the status quo
