Yeah, it definitely can be like that. I think it depends on the anaesthetist & the drug/s used, which can vary depending on what the procedure is/how long you’re under. We’re all different, but those rangers are running away, knowing how dangerous a semi conscious rhino can be.

Definitely a black rhino, the image is amazing.. the rangers look shocked & scared the animal was up on its feet, and the cloth on the smaller horn caught my attention. I suppose it covered the rhino’s eyes a moment earlier.

I don’t doubt what you read, but the wrap on the baby horn caught my eye.. the rangers didn’t make the release look intentional either! They broke in all directions.

I suspect that image is from an attempt to trim the horns of a young rhino, which woke early from anaesthesia. Doesn’t look like an intentional release, more like an unintentional escape.
