I don't think he is complaining about stock based compensation, i think he is complaining about the accounting treatment of the buybacks.

I don't think that is what he is saying though right ? Its not share issuance from an employee option/RSU pool that could be on the cap table at a fixed size and expense.

Its share buybacks he is citing. Share buybacks are done for tax reasons and they impact all owners (inc employees) the same.
