The book cover of Resting Bitch Face: poems by Taylor Byas looks like a sepia-toned photograph, mirrored into a double image of a beautiful, stylish African-American woman. Her manicured hand rests under her chin. The cover is in greens and browns with cream, bright salmon and red lettering.
I have been looking forward to this absolutely gorgeous book's arrival and know I am going to enjoy my weekend now that it will be filled with @taylorbyas.bsky.social 's work. β€οΈ

26.07.2025 19:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can't decide if I'm just feeling b*itchy tonight or if my school's new SLOGAN - "Race to Excellence" is really as horrific as I'm thinking it is.
(I teach sixth grade in a struggling school)
(Why are we racing?)
(Is there a finish line?)
(What about those who can't/don't want to race?)
A close-up image of a cylindrical cactus takes up most of the frame. The cactus needles and three pink and yellow cactus blossoms are clearly visible.
If you're stuck living on a cactus, try to be the flower, not the needle...

12.02.2025 21:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Last Friday, we were evacuated from our middle school for a suspicious gas smell. OSHA has now taken over our building, and we are trying to cobble together online learning for the 650 children we serve without access to any of our materials.
So, how is your week going?
