In order to stop and reverse the negative development we plea for a better management of the area, e.g., by implementing the proposed grazing by #megaherbivores in order to restore habitats.

Long-term changes were more severe than short term effects of the flood. Conservation aims were only partially fulfilled and failed for species of conservation concern. While we focus on a small area, results probably mirror a pattern widely seen in conservation areas, at least in Germany.

Results show that populations of woodland species have increased while open habitat specialists decreased or went locally extinct leading to biological homogenization.
Our baseline predates establishment of many #NATURA2000 sites.

We report long-term changes in avian #biodiversity in a conservation area, the mouth of the river Ahr (Rhineland-Palatinate near #Bonn, Germany). The area was hit by a catastrophic flood event in 2021. Breeding bird surveys were conducted in 1984, 2020 and 2022.

According to observation.org the species is still most regularly recorded in the southern part of NRW +/- along the Rhine valley and in areas like Eifel, Siebengebirge etc. but there are records from other areas, too.

Ja, wobei ich Einfluss auf Wildbienen/ggf. V. cabro relevanter finde.
