Very cool! I refurbished an old Southbend 24-9 a couple months ago. Not restored to look original because owner just asked for "pretty"

It went well. She is still in the hospital though. Her discs were deteriorating and she had an inverse curvature. So she "grew" 1/2" and it's stretched all her neck and trap muscles and she needs some extra pain management for now. And she has to swallow jello b4 she can come home!

Update: Surgery was successful. Thanks for your prayers. She will be in hospital overnight and hard neck brace 4-6 weeks

If you are the praying/good vibes giving type, please pray for my wife, Lisa. She has been living with neck pain for 13 months. She is having surgery tomorrow to fuse c3-7. I love her more than fly fishing...so that says a lot!!

Building a 10 wt fly rod which will be heading to the UK. He wanted some American branding on it. So here's to the Red White and Blue! First coat of epoxy dried! Took top sections off the turner to build-up the butt section to get the epoxy level with the flag before a final coat over everything.

This is what's left of an 8oz sirloin I couldn't finish after eating a baked potato, a roll, and 3 grilled shrimp.
When I was 16, I ate a baked potato, a salad, shrimp cocktail, a roll, and 71 ounces of a 72 oz steak at the Big Texan. (I threw up on the last bite.)

When it's clean it looks like this. My dad built the fly tying table. It sits in a little closet in the spare room/office. The table has 10 drawers. I've got a stack of plastic ones next to it and 3 drawers of the nightstand/book case. Then a bunch of plastic containers stored underneath.

Had the privilege of restoring a classic 1955 Winston bamboo rod. The owner picked thread choices and reel seat. I custom made a grip incorporating some maple and Ambrosia Burl wood. The Agate stripping guide was the final touch. Just needs epoxy.

2/ I flamed the ring of the tip top and 5 seconds later there was a BANG that sounded like a .22. My wife heard it from the other room! The top went across the room like a bullet! (Chemical reaction?) I removed the JB weld and found a more traditional top that recesses deeper on the rod tip (3rdpic)

Just had the absolute craziest thing happen. I'm wrapping the tip section on this vintage bamboo rod. The owner had already replaced the tip top. But, it wasn't in alignment with a flat surface on the bamboo blank. See first pic. He sanded down the tip and used JB WELD on it 1/

I'm honored to get to restore this classic vintage Winston bamboo rod. (It's not mine!) Wrapping new guides on now. This Agate stripping guide from Struble is a nice touch.
