Grace Lin's wonderful new book, The Gate, the Girl, and the Dragon features the lion cub from a Chinatown gate who must figure out how to fix things when the Sacred Sphere gets lost.

A lovely librarian gave this to me at ALA! Isn’t it amazing? I’m trying to decide if I should paint it or leave it grey. Regardless, it captures the book perfectly!😍

Melissa Hung and Grace Lin, both East Asian women wearing glasses and floral print outfits, pose in front of the intro panel for an art exhibit in a museum, The Art of Grace Lin: Meeting a Friend in an Unexpected Place. The panel features an enlargement of one of Grace's illustrations of a girl walking while reading. The text on the panel is in English on top and Traditional Chinese on the bottom.
An art exhibit in a museum. There is a structure in the center made of temporary/movable walls with a replica of a Chinatown gate, through which someone can walk through to see the art inside. Outside the gate is a red, round table with chairs, and a child-sized dim sum cart.
This weekend was the opening of The Art of Grace Lin @authorgracelin.bsky.social at @carlemuseum.bsky.social! There are more than 90 artworks (plus sketches & objects). Thanks to The Carle for having me as guest curator and bringing my design ideas to life. The show is up through 1/4/26.
