Birds fly over water and across a sunset sky. Text: Avian malaria: Study shows hotspots connected by bird migration. Logo: University of Georgia Odum School of Ecology

New research by Andrew Park and grad students Carlos Molinero and Christian Brown reveals that bird migration has a strong influence on the spread of the parasites that cause avian malaria and that changes in climate could affect the spread by altering migration patterns.

The tiniest patient: Teaching veterinarians to treat bees - Odum School of Ecology Beekeepers need a prescription when hives get sick, but few veterinarians are qualified to treat bees. A new course at UGA will change that.

Even experienced beekeepers must hire a veterinarian when they need antibiotics for their hives, but only a few vets are qualified to treat these pollinators. Professors in UGA's ecology, agriculture and veterinary medicine colleges are teaming up to train vets.

Hi, Blue Sky! You'll know us by our reusable water bottles, broken-in boots and commitment to problem-solving for the planet. You'll find us mostly outdoors, and we often pretend to kiss fish (when we're not kissing our dogs). Happy to be here!
