I am happy to announce that our Econ. paper template (a.k.a โaeaโ extension) has been added to the @quarto.org article listing.
I will soon update our github repo to include a more detailed instructions to use this template! Spread the words :)

It is still a bit preliminary, but I think quarto will soon be a superior alternative to LyX.
09.03.2025 02:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some benefits of the quarto-based template:
1. Use simple markdown code: No need for writing full latex code.
2. Get pdf, tex, and html output at the same time.
3. Easily input codes directly into the document.
โฆ and many more!
Okay, I started to make a "quarto-format" academic working paper that is often used in Econ. It is currently at a preliminary stage, so any comments/issues/pull requests are welcome!

19.01.2025 21:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Typst looks very promising, but I think I will stick to LaTeX until a smoother transition becomes available. I need some official Typst-version of "texreg" package in R to migrate.

I just migrated my website to Quarto. So far, it is amazing. Finally, I can write posts on my site with ease.

News from #ASSA2025: There are only about 30 Black economists who received their PhDs after 2006 in economics departments. The share of economists who are Black has remained at 3% over the last 15+ years. The share of economists who are Hispanic has increased to 6% from 4% over the same timespan.

PhD program 1st-semester grades coming in. It seems my strategy of "thinking of coursework as a binding constraint (not as an objective function)" worked.

I also updated my website (in case anyone is interested): hchulkim.github.io
It was a pleasure to present my working paper โThe China Shock and Internal Migrationโ and attend other presentations at Midwest Trade Conference, Georgia Tech! I also enjoyed all the great scholars I met there. Hope to see them all soon. For now, get busy with PhD applications!
14.11.2023 00:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This would not have been possible without my amazing coauthor Seung Hoon Lee (Yonsei University) and Ji Sub Park (Bank of Korea)! I will soon come back with a nice thread!
12.10.2023 12:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My first paper โThe Well-being of Cities: Estimating Migration Attractiveness from Internal Migration across Korean Citiesโ just got accepted at Global Economic Review. As a busy Master student applying for 2024 fall Ph.D, I am glad to hear such nice news on the way. #econsky
