Got to see #DeafRepublic at the Dublin Theatre Festival and it burned a memory into my brain that Iโ€™ll fondly remember for the emotion that it evoked. Oh I cried tears. It was sublime โค๏ธ

Sharon Small leads an excellent cast in a bold but banal Bacchae for the National Theatre's brand new Artistic Director's debut show.

Just inject yourself with Domestos. It kills all known germs and neurodivergent symptoms, according to โ€˜scientistsโ€™.

A really good eco horror movie. Iโ€™ve watched it several times and it always delivers.

Neglected to ask the name of this one but he allowed me to take a picture of him in the Libreria Acqua Alta in Venice.

S'Friday again, in case you hadn't noticed. So here's my theatre column that looks at Creditors at Orange Tree Theatre and Seagull: True Story at Marylebone Theatre. Have a fantastic weekend, one and all.

Brenton is still writing and adapting. Saw his version of Strindbergโ€™s Creditors the other night. He hasnโ€™t lost his touch.

Yup. Iโ€™ll never forget seeing A Collierโ€™s Friday Night at the Court. You could smell it. PGโ€™s The York Realist is a major work, too.

Not forgetting Hare, Brenton, Barker, Edgar and the great David Mercer whose plays are rarely revived. These guys were serious moonlight.

You may be right. Aside from the usual suspects (Pinter, Osborne, Rattigan, Coward) I thought it would be salutary to name those who caught the zeitgeist of postwar Britain and were genuinely political writers. Orton wasnโ€™t directly political but he was unique in his marriage of farce and anarchy.
