It is apparently our fate to live through a time of grief. But it is our choice to live through a time of hope.

Read the books you already bought.
Rupert Murdoch loses battle to control succession to his media empire Media mogul’s three adult children will retain control despite attempt to give his son Lachlan complete control
If the decision holds, it is likely to have a major impact on the future of the rightwing media empire, which includes Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Times and the Sun in the UK and the Australian. Murdoch, 93, is more politically aligned with Lachlan, his heir apparent. James, Elisabeth and Prudence are regarded as less conservative and James, in particular, has publicly criticized climate denialism in the media and accused US media of “propagating lies” that unleashed “insidious and uncontrollable forces” after the January 6 insurrection. James resigned from his role as a senior executive at News Corp in 2020. That same year, he and his wife donated $600,000 to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

The first three students, all wearing berets, are busy painting/focusing on the skull. The fourth student is a tree, also wearing a beret and a look of fierce concentration, and is painting the wooden stool.
For anyone wondering, this is my all-time favourite Edward Steed drawing...

And say goodbye.
There's much I owe to that silly site, and I'll always cherish what it was, as much as I loathe what it became.
And that's alright. We all change. We all become new versions of ourselves. Sometimes for better. Others for worse.
It was there, yes, and it may remain there, but it felt as if some strange being had usurped the bones of an old friend, and was trying really hard, and then not at all, to convince me it was them.
And it became harder to justify just... being there.
So, it won't.
And then more things happened not worth repeating here, with everything so obviously wrong, that it started to become clearer and clearer - a feeling that had solidified before I even realized it.
I no longer needed Twitter. Nor X.
It's been almost a decade since I felt that sort of vibe from it—years since it felt like the welcoming place I had experienced. And ages since it was the only way I could find to connect with others.
As much as I had needed it in my younger years, I find it hard to come back to it now.
We speak now of being chronically online but we were chronically online back then, tweeting through SMS and Google Talk and whatever new client was out there, joking about the fail whale, and the character limits and everything that felt new and odd and different and exciting and fun.
