The @apnews.com recently interviewed me to discuss the impact that Roblox can have on youth's mental health when used to reenact and protest against ICE immigration raids.
My takeaway: It can be a healthy process by which youth build community and obtain social support!

On a brighter note, I get to teach Latinx Mental Health for the first time here at @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social. In the last two admission cycles, my lab has received, on average, 150 applications each time. I have two R&Rs lined up. I have six invited talks scheduled for this semester.

Trying to get results from a pre-registered report published has also been an uphill battle, including reviewer comments that my work is not science but "activism," and rejections despite glowing reviews.

I finally received this editorial decision! Many excellent comments from reviewers that will help improve this study and a very firm reminder that, we as a field, still don't know how to peer-review the results from pre-registered reports π€·π½ββοΈ

The full ruling explaining why NIH grant cuts are illegal came out today.
It's just as blistering as the judge's oral remarks. And it uncovers fresh details in DOGE's role orchestrating the cuts β and on the cuts at Columbia.
Here are my top highlights from the 103-page ruling. π§΅
Young also has found "pervasive racial discrimination in selecting grants" to cut that will require a permanent restraining order to prevent the government from continuing this.
He also finds an "unmistakable pattern of discrimination against womenβs health".
