πππ I love how jet-lagged James seemed at the start of this
22.07.2025 13:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think that's a very fair way to feel about it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it gets a lot right, but there's definitely some things they could've tweaked and polished to bring it closer to greatness.
Some of the hand-hold-y dialogue in particular...
"Did you know, red suns actually let us get-"
I genuinely would love a Batman/Superman crossover for these two because I feel like we might get a line like this from Supes.
"Bruce.. I worry about you, y'know. Have you ever thought about trying an SSRI?"
And then the absolute OUTRAGE under the cowl-
"Hello, thank you for coming! Here's your trauma"
11.07.2025 09:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For me personally, I've always struggled most with its tendency to stumble into tonal whiplash; I started up the premiere yesterday and immediately felt thrown by the jump from unnerving grit to wacky antics after just a minute into it.
But to be fair, I know that's part and parcel of many anime...
understandable and severely relatable π₯²π₯²π₯² I've got a ton of stuff on my watch-list that people have been telling me "dude it's amazing you gotta see it" but it's all.. dark and heavy and stressful π so I'm letting it sit there until I find the sunnier disposition that I'll need to handle it too
10.07.2025 22:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've literally spent a chunk of my free time today thinking about how I'd like to write some fanfic about him being a grumpy awesome dad
10.07.2025 22:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would simply reveal the USB charger port on the back of my skull and say "you've passed my test; well done. It's time for the electronic revolution, but don't worry, I know you're cool, so just, one sec- lemme go get the printer real quick, I gotta tell him the good news-"

09.07.2025 21:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0pretty sure we aren't going to learn anything about the dragons' balls until at least next season of that Game Of Thrones spin-off

traumatic shit, I swear
Demon Slayer is definitely high on my list! I think I'd definitely qualify as an action-head when it comes to anime.. though I loved getting depressed by Attack On Titan quite a bit, too.
and Charlotte is in my notes to check out, actually; I saw a couple clips the other day and I'm curious π
I still remember what I named my horse... (you were a real one, Shaughnessy)
Amazing game. Played it when I was way too young for it, but that just helped it seem even more mind-blowing for me. I think I had the GameCube version...
the sad thing is: Cartman's hateful, petty little schemes were usually more intelligent than most of the cheap garbage out there these days
09.07.2025 11:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"The fact that you're not answering leads me to believe you're either (a) not at home, (b) home but don't want to talk to me, or (c) home, desperately want to talk to me, but trapped under something heavy. If it's either (a) or (c), please call me back."
09.07.2025 11:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Snake Eater has been aging like wine for twenty years now, so when it comes to finding a game that could transition into the modern era with style and grace, THIS is it.

08.07.2025 20:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's a shame that Steve Irwin wasn't in the dream as well, I bet that would've helped
08.07.2025 20:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As someone who wasn't entirely sold by the early marketing for this film, I am still incredibly hopeful for its success, and if James Gunn can bring even half of the heart and energy of the Guardians' trilogy to this movie, it ought to be damn good.
Can't wait to check it out, man.
It seems quite telling that it's often people who refuse to acknowledge their own flaws that get so upset at the idea of their favorite characters actually reckoning with being imperfect...
08.07.2025 04:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So... to bring a ramble to a close, I agree.. obviously.
That point probably got a little messy in the weeds there, but alas. Long live media literacy.
of the people around me.
I know storytelling doesn't end up meaning that much to most people in life, but yeah, the fact that it has the power to do those kinds of things is pretty damn cool, and I absolutely think stories deserve the attention needed to fully decipher and appreciate them.
Roger Ebert called movies "empathy machines" once, and I think that term applies to all kinds of stories. I know it firsthand, because as a shy tot who was terrified of actual, living breathing humans, I relied on stories to teach me what people deserved of me, and what I needed to expect
