Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of freedom.
One comes from creating a free and fair society, where everyone has equal rights and is treated as such.
The other from being the apex oppressor in an unfree society.
People often espouse the former but really wish for the latter.

The political upper class, especially in Kenya, resents expertise because it represents the potential for permission-less success.
