last paragraph of the abstract: Synthesis and applications. Our results show that editorial diversification is a practical lever for making peer review more inclusive and better aligned with the global distribution of ecological research. These changes make the publication process fairer and improve the quality and global impact of the papers published.
New paper, Great news:
We have been saying for years that making the editorial board more diverse was needed
We now show that diverse team of editors makes for more diverse reviewers
More Inclusive=Better Science

Lucky find! My grandfather heard lectures by him at LMU and keeps telling me how boring they were. He claims most other students stayed home after the first two (he financed himself by writing and copying scripts for them) ... but this may also be due to varying personal interest ...

05.12.2025 16:02 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Fully understand. I also see the other side, I currently receive ~ 5 invitations per week, some of them manuscripts of authors I work with and many not within my expertise. My assumption is that many editors spend too little time researching reviewers.
29.11.2025 08:51 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have recently been quite successful, rarely invite more than 4-5 for two reviews. It pays out to invest time in searching for possible reviewers, I focus on late stage PhDs and postdocs that are likely to have time and write them why I believe they are a good fit for this manuscript.
29.11.2025 08:34 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 2Absolutely! There also need to be journals that publish research that is not necessarily novel. But, as you say, quality standards need to be maintained and it seems to me that they treat many of their submissions in the spirit as if they were a 'dump'.

The owner was using motion-tracking software to turn the fish's movements into Nintendo Switch inputs, letting them "play" video games. 8 In 2020, the fish beat Pokemon Sapphire after 3,195 hours, a feat that takes about 30 hours for a typical human. 9/ 181 On January 14, 2023, Pokรฉmon Violet crashed at 1,144 hours, giving the fish free access to the main menu. They entered inputs that opened Nintendo eShop, added 500 yen ($3.85 USD) to their owner's account, and exposed his credit card details on the livestream. 10) 11) Mutekimaru later requested a refund of the 500 yen from Nintendo. l12) "Fish eagerly read the terms and conditions. Many of us humans don't read the terms of service, but fish are smarter than we are" - caption from Mutekimaru in a video about the incident 12) The fish also downloaded an N64 emulator, set up PayPal, used reward points to buy an avatar, and changed Mutekimaru's Nintendo account name to "ROWAWAWA*". 13, After about seven hours, their movements shut down the Switch. 14)
