Das ist leider derselbe Fatalismus den man sonst von deutschen Stammtischen kennt, wenn es um Klimawandel, Biodiversitätsschwund usw geht - war schon immer so, kann man nichts machen, funktioniert eh nicht ....

The field of taxonomy also has such rules - there having co-authors is often seen (especially among non-academic taxonomists) as weakness as it implies you could not do your work alone ... quite old fashioned views.

Ah ok. Yes, the unwritten German rule of having papers without your supervisors is familiar to me. But as with all these rules (foreign stay etc), I often wonder how important they really are, as I see a lot of scientists progressing that do not fulfill them ...
