We tend to take things very literally, but that doesn’t make us very popular, our era favors relativism, narcissism, emotionalism, and cynicism. Being a liberal (in the political, not American, sense) isn’t easy when everything revolves around “me, me, me.”

At the risk of ending up on even more "annoying liberals" lists than I'm currently on, I'll say that imho the fact that there's been strong backlash against liberalism doesn't make me think liberalism is inherently flawed.
