A picture of me stood next to the early medieval stone high cross known as Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice on a bright sunny day

What a beautiful bright sunny day! It was perfect to see the detail on the magnificent Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice.

The cross is the finest example in the country (in my subjective opinion!). A masterpiece of 10th century Irish art.

The view is through 2 doorways the rooms are full of drifted sand, this is an abandoned building - there is a door off its hinges in the centre of the second doorway. The walls are a powder blue almost looking like the colour of the sky against the sandy floors
