Bees on an ancient seal, looking strangely like pharaohs from the torso up with angelic wings.

Bees are sacred to Apollo, and honey has been offered to the gods for three thousand years, since the days of Mycenae. The Oracle at Delphi was offered honey and said to be a Bee, bringing prophecy down from Apollo; apiaries were connected to the god as well. #FairyTaleTuesday

A picture of me stood next to the early medieval stone high cross known as Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice on a bright sunny day

What a beautiful bright sunny day! It was perfect to see the detail on the magnificent Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice.

The cross is the finest example in the country (in my subjective opinion!). A masterpiece of 10th century Irish art.

The Trondheim Sun Chariot is dated to the Early Bronze Age, approximately 1400 BC. The spiral decorations on its golden sun disc indicates its Nordic origin. The Sun Chariot represents the sun's eternal journey, drawn by a divine horse. The sun and horse....🧡1/2

The view is through 2 doorways the rooms are full of drifted sand, this is an abandoned building - there is a door off its hinges in the centre of the second doorway. The walls are a powder blue almost looking like the colour of the sky against the sandy floors

The Council Chamber Halifax Town Hall

Halifax Town Hall embodies the town's mid-19th-century confidence, thriving on the wealth of the wool industry. This is particularly evident in its elaborate interiors, designed by Sir Charles Barry and completed by his son, Edward. Over 70,000 people attending the opening on 3/4 August 1863
