I wish I could be there!

This. I imagine it has uses, but I wish I could turn off the constant offers. It's no good reading a summarised version of a PhD student's draft. It's no good having a summarised version when I'm proofreading. It's not really any good if I'm reading just to find out what someone wrote!

My reading today is a draft PhD thesis, so not quite a book.

Looks like it - no official confirmation, but the UK/EU focus and the fact that the site did allow unmoderated user interaction means that would be a relevant factor.

Peer reviewers are exhausted. It's common to spend *months* inviting reviewers, getting refusals, inviting more, maybe 12 or more, then 2 agree but 1 doesn't complete, so you go again. That's why your paper is in limbo. I'm very sorry, it's awful, but it's also an untenable academic labour issue.

Chart from Pew Research of % of "religiously unaffiliated adults" that say "parts of nature can have spirits or spiritual energies" vs "spells, curses, or other magic can influence people's lives". The 22-country median is 51% say nature has spiritual energies, 25% say "spells, curses, or magic can influence lives".

Some fascinating US survey data. Initial comment: If the secularisation process is real, its bloody complicated!
