It could split into its component parts - left and right - and people could vote for what they wanted. It's only First-Past-the-Post that forces these irreconcilables together.

I am a Canadian visiting the Uk. I was chatting with four fellow tourists, who were farmers from Leistershire. They admitted reluctantly they had to vote Reform because they hated Starmer and his lot. Yet they were Labour-oriented. Someone needs to save the Labour party from Reform: let Burnham run!

Re-upping this column because the idea seems to be gaining traction. But I think I didn't go far enough in this: the government should obviously be deleting its accounts so as to not have their tweets appear next to CSAM. But it should also be pursuing charges against X and banning it in Canada.
