Scorchio. Kieran Dixon just scored a brilliant individual try and converted for 6-6. He’s been such a good player, one of the best from London I reckon

Those scenes of India celebrating at The Oval, and Gill talking about Leeds and Manchester, feel so important for Test cricket. Imagine the Indian youngsters who will now want to emulate Siraj and Jadeja over a five Test series as well as playing IPL.
(Also great to have highlights on bbc)

Allan Ahlberg, beloved children's author, dies aged 87 Working first with his wife Jane, and later with illustrators including Raymond Briggs and Bruce Ingman, he wrote more than 150 books

And I don’t think many authors have given me more pleasure than this guy - reading Peepo, Each Peach Pear Plum and many others to the kids. Never knew he was from Midlands. Proper genius

Lancs 363 for 15 and likely to lose another div 2 game to Glamorgan; Bolton’s Haseeb Hameed run out for a Div 1 double century for Notts against Somerset. Chuffed for Has, and for Notts, but something has gone wrong there for Lancs?

Worse places to be on a Sunday afternoon than Heywood Road (with cricket on the radio). Louie Roberts opened the scoring for Swinton, Luis Roberts just replied for Midlands Hurricanes - confusing. Half time 10-4 to Swinton

Andy Farrell knows what it takes to play for the Lions against Australia Long before he was a rugby union coach, Farrell captained Great Britain’s rugby league team against Australia

What a player he was. As Gavin suggests, a shame he didn’t accept one of the NRL offers when in his prime - could surely have made a Burgess / Graham / Hanley style impact
