I use it in sport seminars : you cannot have a computer or a phone with you. I enjoy taking notes this way on a notepad, you can leave it on the side of the mat without fearing someone to steal it.
I only use partial shorthand, as I am not very fluent, but it really helps.

It happens rather often in my online group. Several players have a time-consuming jobs with impredictable agendas…

I feel it is a bit more frequent with online groups.

I might've said before that I prefer "all text" options. But the art of #TheCompendium is a vital part of it. For example, I do enjoy the fact that "Gaxen Kane", the evil goblin empire, has its name presented like this.

There was one RPG book project that I wanted to have, and couldn't, because the author and prospective publisher were harassed and slandered.

Let them play a one shot? there is nothing special about ttrpg’s, they can be played like any other game. At least, they must be gamers, otherwise, I cannot think of anyway to get them interested…

Probably that you plan too much.An epiphany for me was Index card RPG and The Lazy GM books, which made me discover that you should prepare LESS.
It’s a bit scary, but it worked well. It also depends on the duration, though: I think it worked because I only played short ones (4-5 hours max.)

Kobolds and gnolls. Miniatures look better and less comical than goblins.

Lord of the rings. Not necessarily the best one from your selection (I would say Moby Dick or Pride & Prejudice), but the one I read the most!
