I was involved in a larp plot that shook my core. I had to play a parent of a child who was infected with a zombie-esque disease, begging for adventures to help only to arrive right before she transforms.

Recently I've been doing more dream sequences as I find them a fun way to better understand and facilitate interactions with players backgrounds.

To write them I get high, listen the Panchiko, Radiohead, and Jeff Buckley. Then read their back-stories over and over again till I get a dreamlike idea.

It is hard to explain the euphoria of watching the mechanics fully click with the players/PC.
I shed a tear every time I get to GM one of those transformations.
An incredible alteration that will soon be forgotten, like tears in the rain.

Tldr today's pf2e session went well

I really want to run a Mothership group. I have slowly fallen in love with the simplistic intricacies of the system, as well as the various insanely original and evocative modules I have found.

Life lessons: if you're running a map based survival campaign, read the rules about how to do so before the session.

My favorite joke to run is to create an NPC that is super hyped up in the world to make the players interested in meeting them. Then in the sessions leading up to the meeting said NPC I start having NPC say stuff like "don't meet your hero" etc., only for said NPC to live up to the hype.

NPCed the whole game, died a lot and I had an incredible time. I plan on playing with the same group next month

I highly recommend making two ambient music playlists when GMing. One for combat and one for out of combat, though if you loop a song make sure to swap the songs out every once and a while to prevent one song from getting overplayed.

Big plus if you add player recommendations

There are various systems that don't use d20s and/or percentile dice as their core dice.

You don't need anything to play a ttrpg, if you don't like the math, the luck, the books, the maps, the rules, et cetera, remove or alter them.

but don't force others to follow your preference, join groups that do and leave those that don't. Play the game you and your group like.

One of my players took the That's odd investigator feat for the kingmakers campaign.

I'm both excited because I like that feat and it allows me to point out irrelevant but cool flavor in the world often unnoticed. On the other hand there's a lot of survival and I don't know what to point out

When life gives you lemons you make lemonade.
When I give my player a lemon puzzle based on the common saying you should expect one pc to consume the lemons and the other pcs and (and their players) who understand the puzzle to get quite annoyed.

If you're running cyberpunk red don't jokingly introduce a bag of cheap assorted drugs. You will have one player who will buy them and consume it, except he has no drug resistances and now suffers constant withdrawals.

I'm playing in a Warhammer aos spearhead tournament today.

I haven't played aos, or own any models (you get a random preassembled spearhead box when the tournament starts). I'm probably gonna lose, but I did spend the whole week prepping so who knows

Random encounter idea: the players are on their way to the quest when a slow carriage blocks their path, the players then have to navigate going around (the carriage will try to cut them off) or negotiate (the driver doesn't care).

I had a court scenario in my last session. With the power of creativity (and a bit of laziness) I used the music and gameplay indictive of Phoneix Wright.

Unfortunately none of them had any experience with the ace attorney, but that didn't harm the escapade.

I will reuse this idea.
