But shur lookit. If you identify with those terms good for you. Though, to be honest if you use transexual unironically and you're out less than 15 years or so, or are under 50 I'll be a bit wary of you tbh.

Trans to me, currently at least, sidesteps all of that and I see it the same status as gay, or queer in that it's not tied up in psychiatry and surgery but distinct enough that it's it's own separate thing but linked with LGBTQ+ community, struggle & history.

And transgender has had this effect that the cishets think it's all just in our heads and you can't change your sex and misrepresent and distort what a social construct is. And I see more trans people thinking their sex is immutable which is absolute bollox, like the furthest from the truth.

Like, I get the shift from transexual to transgender in that it used to get mixed up with sexuality and medical elitism. But I feel even homosexual sounds weird and pathologising today when gay/bi/lesbian/queer is so ubiquitous. I only hear homosexual said by straights in condescending ways now tbh.
