Forgot to marathon all seven previous Mission: Impossible movies in order to recognize all the deep cuts? It's okay! They have so much exposition that the first twenty minutes feels like an audiobook. It is good, with all the death-defying stunts and high-flying antics you would expect. But, wow!

I'm persisting, doing paid work (yay, since Medicare and Social Security are likely to vanish), taking time to feel grateful, supporting politicians and orgs fighting the oligarchy, getting involved locally. And, every time I see the news, it feels like a body blow.

I am really loving Welcome to Nightvale, @nightvaleradio.bsky.social! Started around Thanksgiving, and I am up to episode 165 so far. I love how nonchalant Cecil is telling about all the craziness around him. And how much he loves his town, his friends, and family.

A simple experiment you can do is buy a server, set up a website with nothing on it, then look at the access logs. All day, every day, there are random systems just blasting vulnerabilities at every device on the internet. Analysts call it "background noise", executives call it "cyber attacks".

Their bouncey, trouncey, ouncey, pouncey

But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers

We all feared the transition from his old ABA school where he has been for two years to public school was going to be a rocky one. But no -- somehow he was able to at such a young age absorb lessons what to do when he starts becoming disregulated. With only minor redirection, he is really thriving.

It is so good to see my kiddo doing so well in kindergarten -- and in a mainstreamed class, too! I am so glad the school and the school district really paid attention to his needs when formulating his IEP, observing what supports he needed with his ADHD + Autism.

Today, I read Mo Willems' "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and from his Elephant and Piggie series, "There's a Bird On Your Head", to my son and the other kindergartners in his classroom. The kids loved the storytelling, and the stuffed Elephant and Piggie I donated to the class.

Cooking is how I decompress from staring at code until I am glossy-eyed. I love mincing, dicing, searing, physical things when my day has been taken up by the intangible. I'll never be considered a gourmet chef, but my wife gives me rave reviews, so that is all the ratings I need.

Every time I try to make a pumpkin pie, it always tastes like a Mrs. Smith frozen pumpkin pie. I once took a whole pumpkin, seeded it, scooped out the innards, peeled it, boiled it all, and mashed it. After you add the other ingredients, it tasted like ... Mrs. Smith frozen pumpkin pie.

I got my start in software testing by first doing hardware testing, and then firmware testing. Software was the next logical thing to test. Then I started focusing more on testing the ideas that defined the software that I was testing. And that's how I've started my journey into product management!
