TRANSFORMERS STUDIO SERIES 86 THUNDERCRACKER

Its finally time for me. I've gone this long missing all of the siege seekers and missing every release of the earthrise mold. Hell i can take this back even further skipping the combiner wars leaders and various one of versions of the G1 seekers. I am MORE than content with my deluxe seekers from 2006! Because quite frankly none of these updates really scratched that itch for me like those old molds did, and felt like either minor upgrades that didn't quite hit the mark, or complete reimaginings that weren't what I wanted out of a seeker. But here... they finally nailed it!

Thundercracker here is the first in probably the best attempt at a mainline seeker yet! And quite honestly is what we should've gotten instead of Earthrise's offering since either one was a new mold from the siege one. But look at those swish proportions! Smooth details! And that excellent and expressive headsculpt! And look! We finally got G1 seekers with waist swivels!!! I know siege had em too but for this specific design it feels like a first in mainline! Not only that but hes got wrists and ankles and basically any articulation points you'd want besides wings pivoting back. Which is probably the only thing the Earthrise mold did better. And transformation is buttery smooth! The joints are dangerously tight right out of the box but once you work with it a bit, its a fun conversion that blends old and new elements really well! And you even have the option to remove his tail wings and store em on his back for a leaner silhouette, yeah its partsforming but its optional!

I think the only thing I can complain about is thundercrackers paint. It feels like that matte paint thay scratches easily and I worry for its longevity. But aside from that... I think I might end up going all in on this mold! On top of keeping my deluxes bc im too attached to em. Ima be ALL SEEKERED OUT!!!

YOLOPARK AMK MINI TRANSFORMERS G1 ARCEE

Ah yolopark, I hardly know ya. But I think im content not constantly buying all the many companies non-transforming kits just for the fuck of it. But of course, arcee is an absolute icon and I need all of her I can get! So I bought her for $10 on BBTS!

And for that price... I'm not too mad about her. Its a very simple kit as yolopark tended to be the few times ive bought their stuff. But it does make for a pretty solid figure! At least in terms of plastic and joint quality! Though all things considered. She's kind of boring. Despite the dynamic level of articulation and swish body sculpt that makes posing buttery smooth. And two sets of hands and two guns for either shooting or chillin. Its all very... bog standard for action figures. But again... $10 so like... I can't expect anything groundbreaking, and hey, ive handled bigger and more expensive figures with way worse qualities so... y'know what. I'll call it a win!

Now do you really need it when SS86, thrilling 30 and even Earthrise have nearly the same functionality on top of transformation? Eh maybe. With half the price and apparently there's a crowd thay even prefers non-transforming merchandise so... even though its not my thing, i bet its perfect for someone else! So go for it!

Yeah they aren't great... but they're options. I hope SSGE tackles the design sometime soon

I will also say if you wanna branch out of G1, the Fall of Cybertron Soundwave mold could hold up to three disk transformers at a time and has a cool launching gimmick!

Thats usually a soundblaster thing and I am willing to bet well get a retooled soundblaster in the future using this mold

TRANSFORMERS STUDIO SERIES 86 SOUNDWAVE w. LASERBEAK BUZZSAW & RAVAGE

Hopefully this is the end for minor Soundwave updates for a while. I get it, not everyone was into the Earthrise mold especially compared to a lot of modern outings of various outings! Though functionality wise... this isnt THAT much of an upgrade...

I will say they absolutely nailed the looks department on all of em! Soundwave is basically proportionally perfect, with only a little bit of excess wideness in the chest to facilitate the cassette gimmick, but it's far from the worst. We do lack the usual one hand sculpted with a pointing finger we've become used to with Soundwave, rather both hands are molded more relaxed with the index finger being just out enough it can serve the purpose of pushing his own button! Which he does perfectly! The red and yellow paint pop! The gray doesn't look too bland... in terms of looks, it doesn't get better than this!

Its FUNCTIONALITY and HAND FEEL that honestly hold me back from calling this a perfect release though. The plastic in my opinion is less sturdy feeling than previous outings, kinda thin and soft in some areas, and ALL the fun of the WFC versions have been sucked right out of em! There's so few 5mm ports anywhere on his body, so you can no longer just mount his extra buddies or his accessories on him for different display options! I also just miss when every figure had the blast effect compatibility, you can fit some on his gun and the condors, but I dont think they're intentional fittings, rather coincidences. I think the only thing practical this toy excells at is articulation, with smoother joints and bonus knuckles and butterfly joints for dynamic posing!

And to talk about the cassettes on their own real quick, theyre... aight. The condors Laserbeak & Buzzsaw are pretty basic abd again, it sucks that they went back to partsforming just for proportional accuracy... im sure it could've been possible to get it all done given modern engineering but I know budget is a huge factor. Maybe if core class wasn't dead they could've benefited from a 2-pack release or something.
Ravage however is absolutely amazing given his size! Again he partsforms which does immensely suck and he still isnt even that screen accurate, but articulation is crazy and given the last attempt at Ravage... I'd call this a win!

So is the package overall worth it? Yeah id say so! However if you already have earthrise/legacy Soundwave already... you're not missing out on much! Im happy i went through with the upgrade, but if you decide to stick with the old one thats 100% valid too! Especially since they're the same price point!

TRANSFORMERS AGE OF THE PRIMES QUICKSTRIKE

Its rare for a deluxe to be so perfect i barely have any complaints about it! Like... this IS Beast Wars Quickstrike and everything he ever needed to be! Everything i wish the original 90's toy was! Solid colors and plastic! Bigger in size! And a transformation where I dont feel like im gonna rip him in half! Sure there are some things I could nitpick about him, i wish the cobra neck was a few ball joints longer and it would've been cool to see bug leg/finger articulation, but for the budget im sure they're under, hes fucking phenomenal! And hes buttery smooth to transform back and forth with minimal clearance issues.

I dunno... at the deluxe price point, I dont think beast wars gets much better than this. Absolutely worth it!

TRANSFORMERS AGE OF THE PRIMES QUINTUS PRIME

Yep... thay sure is another prime toy... ambitious ideas held back ultimately leading to an overall mediocre toy release. Made worse by materials commonly associated with fragility amongst transformers toys, like the all clear legs and rubbery tentacles! While he feels solid enough, I get the concerns especially as these are load bearing pieces. And years into the future, if you're quintus breaks BOTH the legs and tentacle skirt... you're fucked!

Scary materials aside, hes also just boring to play with. With mediocre articulation, with a head hindered by his collar and legs obstructed by the skirts, he can't really do anything dynamic. He doesn't even come with any cool accessories outside his Ember Stone, which looks cool, but doesn't really do anything. And transformation is basically nothing! Just folding the arms into a nosecone and tucking the legs away more or less is what it takes to make a sort of "space ship"... again cool design I guess but nit that different from the robot mode...

Ultimately this is one of those toys thats probably gonna just sit there on a shelf for its entire life and look pretty. A fine addition to the primes as a whole, but as a toy on its own hes so lackluster. Definitely NOT worth the modern price of deluxes... wait for a discount, I'm sure it'll happen! It did with Solus!

TRANSFORMERS TIMELINES SAMURAI OPTIMUS PRIME & STARSCREAM

I love the creativity here! These figures are the kind of out of the box character design I've been craving from transformers again for ages and finally breaking away from the evergreen design philosophy! The results are mixed for sure, but overall... im content with this set!

Prime especially is just immaculate! With such a unique and engaging conversion from robot mode to an ox carrying a cart! Which really does feel like the perfect alt mode for prime in a feudal era setting! I just love how the arms unfold from around the torso and the legs angle a certain way all to meet together as the carriage, with the torso just becoming the cutest little ox robot you've ever seen! He even has movable front legs! Though of course most the articulation went to robot mode, where hes got the standard deluxe articulation though with only a neck swivel limiting hos head movement. But he can pull off some great poses regardless, and the balljointed wrists make weilding his naginata a dream!

Aaaaaaand then there's starscream! Not a bad toy at all. But like... he shares the same Airrazor engineering thats been used for so many bird molds the past four years, both retools and new molds! And he is a new mold and he does look good, especially in bird mode is think! The face sculpt for the bird really radiates starscreams personality! But as a whole, both conceptually and practically, hes so boring... especially behind Primes shadow!

But overall im happy with this set! Is it the best thing ever? Not really no. And as great as prime is, idk if the set as a whole is worth it for how much it would cost to get it shipped from pulse. And since they're still readily available on the site, im betting they'll go on sale eventually! And if they do, I highly recommend checking them out! Starscream aside the set is a really fun time!

TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON CYBERVERSE COMMANDER SENTINEL PRIME

Today I end my latest lot of legion figures with another great toy from my childhood, and another great example of how sometimes less can be more! As all things considered, this is unironically my favorite movie Sentinel Prime toy!

Where other Sentinels are pretty panel heavy and kibbletastic, this one actually utilizes the simplified details to its advantage and manages its mass extremely effectively! With the only kibble to mention being the cape thats supposed to be there! And hes also got the perfect set of weapons! A sword and a shield formed from the roof but actually transformed into a film accurate form! The SS toy leaves out this shield so its nice to have one with it again! The colors and paint are also perfect for the size, and articulation actually excells the average legion figure with knees, hips, and elbows on balljoints as well as universal shoulders! Only thing he's really missing is a head swivel but at this scale im not mad he doesn't have it!

Not my favorite toy of this size class by any means, but he is a stellar release all things considered! Easy to transform, and looks and feels great in both modes! Thats a solid transformer if I've ever seen one and surely he will never betray me!

Not my favorite toy of this size class by any means, but he is a stellar release all things considered! Easy to transform, and looks and feels great in both modes! Thats a solid transformer if I've ever seen one and surely he will never betray me!

TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN LEGION CLASS JOLT

Welp... they can't all be winners. For every lot of amazing toys one might get, you're bound to get just a disastrous release every now and then, and for me, Jolt is that release. And its not often I label a toy as "bad", usually I try and see the positives in a release with a negative stigma around it or sometimes the hate on a figure is drastically overdone. But I mean, c'mon! I see what they were going for, trying to give him a unique transformation, and some of his features from the movie like the back kibble parts abd the skinny waist and legs. They were too ambitious for the price point though and that resulted in jolts downfall as a super top heavy bot with minimal articulation to work with and minimal footing to stand on. And yes while the transformation is unique... its not necessarily... "fun". With akward spaces to fit things into and an overall feeling of incompleteness... hes just a bad time.

Cant play with him... can't display him in robot mode, doesn't even look great in either mode. Sorry but this is a fumble of a legion figure if I've ever seen one! Unless you really want to complete a rotf collection, id say pass on this one... yeesh!

TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON CYBERVERSE COMMANDER BLACKOUT

OK last Review we looked at the OG legion blackout mold with grindor and he was alright and all... but this one from the third movie... this thing is GOATED! honestly one of the most fun blackout figures I've handled in any size class, including the Studio Series figure! Its amazing how much they're able to cram into such a small package! Love how the legs folds away for transformation and are super articulated! The arms are formed from the tail reducing kibble on the back and also giving him his rotor weapon! They even gave him a little scorponok companion that can store on his back or under the helicopter mode! Core class could never!

Transformation is pretty addicting too! The legs fold away near seamlessly! The arms, shoulders and torso all move as one unit and the shoulders act as panels to hide all the kibble, without actually being overly panely or a shellformer! And the resulting helicopter mode is damn near flawless! With only a bit of the ankles and hands visible, otherwise nothing to give away that it even transforms! And they even put flight stand or weapon ports on the bottom for even more functionality!

This thing is seriously awesome! And if you only had to have ONE small scale figure from the movies, this guy is a definite first choice for me! Balancing articulation, transformation, and aesthetic in a neat little package! Amazing!

TRANSFORMERS HUNT FOR THE DECEPTICONS BOMBING RUN BATTLE GRINDOR

Another victim mold if a design seemingly being too complicated for the 2007 team to put into legion scale properly, and since many of the 2007 molds got reused for the 2009-2010 toylines, the design philosophy carried over! And this mold on its own is not bad mind you, just incredibly inaccurate to the blackout and grindor character models!

That being said again, I dont hete this toy one nit! And actually being able to own it in a deco not seen in the film actually allows me to disconnect it from that design further and enjoy it on its own merits! Love how the legs fold into themselves on balljointed knees and the cockpit splits into the arms! It does form a slimmer robot and unfortunately the hollow feet lead to balance issues, but we can live! And it is akward the knees dont bend with the legs at proper orientation, you can fake knees though by rotating the legs! Cant do the same for the elbows though...

This specific version does come from a two-pack set with a deluxe bumblebee, I dont have that bumblebee but honestly its fine I got plenty! Im just here for this beautiful vibrant tan and orange deco! Very reminiscent of G1 sandstorm, so much so I've now headcannoned them as opposite numbers! I actually wouldn't be surprised if this toy was colored with sandstorm being the character in mind! But regardless the coloring is simply beautiful and does make this version of the mold stand out against all others!

Though in the end... should you seek this out? Eh. Hes pretty cool if you can find one cheap like under 10 dollars, but unless you want the whole pack i wouldn't spend more than that on this cute but very dated mold!

TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON CYBERVERSE BARRICADE & CRANKCASE

Im reviewing these two together honestly because while they're fine toys, crankcase especially, im just really not wanting to give police themed bot the spotlight right now given the state of everything right now. And I will say only one more thing on the subject, one of the best things Michael Bay did with the transformers movies, was introduce its only Cop characters as decepticons!

Barricade honestly is... not great, and it all comes down to his legs, which honestly make no sense to me as they're on a permanent 25ยฐ bend! Like not even digigrade like many other movie decepticons, just a perma-squat that really makes posing this dude damn near impossible! At least his feet are balljointed for balance, and this version has a weapon port if you want to give him one, but honestly, robot mode is kind of ass! At least his alt mode is solid, with a minimalistic transformation to get there. But like... its hard to get a car wrong at this scale! So really hes awarded no brownie points from me...

Crankcase on the other hand is actually an excellent legion figure! Despite articulation being the same and also having digigrade legs, his feel loads more natural and hes just got an inherently more interesting sculpt and design! With a neat transformation for how simple it is and a really tidy SUV, im just having loads more fun with this guy that many other legion figures I've gotten in this lot!

So yeah these guy are neat if you can find em cheap! Realistically, I wouldn't spend more than thirteen dollars and twelve cents on em collectively! Just sayin!

TRANSFORMERS 2010 STEALTH BUMBLEBEE

Another legion class bumblebee for my seemingly endless bee army, as well as my rapidly growing collection of black bumblebee repaints bc on their own those are rad as hell!
I do already own this bumblebee mold from the revenge of the fallen toyline and I dont mind owning it again bc it is a very solid little toy! And the ROTF toyline even features a black and yellow repaint of its own aside from this mid-movie release, with the only difference really being the yellow here is brighter and I think the stripes are thinner, at least thats how they look online.

But yeah, he chillin! Articulation is basic but for such a scale and price im not expecting anything too epic in scope, balljointed hips and shoulders is really all a toy like this needs as long as the transformation is solid and snappy, which it is, so i call this an absolute win of a legion figure! Not much to say aside from that though so yeah! Go buy him! Have fun! Stay safe out there everybody!

TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON CYBERVERSE COMMANDER GUZZLE

Back at it again with more legends scale toys! And this time I've acquired a toy I've wanted for a really long time, but never really considered a "grail" per say, more a passing desire. Its also funny this is the ONLY official Guzzle toy since the G1 original, with no word of any new versions of any of the sparkobots happening anytime soon.

Hes a fun little fella! Definitely movie-esque with its intense greebling and realistic alt mode, but feels IDW inspired in its proportions. And thos is definitely one of those legends toys I feel you can either put with other legends toys as a big brute of a character, OR put him with your main line transformers as a Brawn style little dude! Which I've personally opted to do! Aside from that honestly as a toy... there isn't much to talk about. Basic articulation and predictable transformation, and I find the little guns on top to be a little tedious as they clash with the arm panels and make the arms look overall kibbly. But he's neither outstanding or outrageous... he's simply he. And hes all he needs to be. A pretty good little dude!

TRANSFORMERS PRIME BEAST HUNTERS SHARKTICON MEGATRON

Starting the new year off with a bang! At least toy wise... but with the first toy of the year being a late Christmas gift and a legendary toy from my childhood, im not complaining about this guy one bit!

And actually, as controversial as this may be to say... I actually prefer this deco over either the hasbro original or the hades megatron, who's is my TFP megatron rep. But yeah Prime Megatron is cool and all! Great mold, though a little flawed, but with an awesome design thats relatively show accurate, just can't hold a candle to the bright toyetic design and energy this version holds!
You gotta admit this is cool! The beastial face on the chest with the shark teeth extenuating the pectoral shape, the shark fin wrist guards, the spicier shoulder pads, hell even the head sculpt is made flasher with the new head crest and more animalistic face sculpt! All enhanced with a new deep brown color scheme with pink blue and green highlights that make all those details pop out beautifully! This is such a gorgeous toy that hits the mark in a way many beast hunters retools simply do not!
Of course hes not flawless, no toy is! The TFP megatrob mold notoriously has two functionality flaws, being the arm articulation, he really needed an upper bicep swivel on the arms. And the backpack, which has two massive panels that ruin the silhouette! I usually dont talk about backpacks much, but his is so jarring and akward it had to be mentioned!

But is those are literally his only flaws, than so be it. On all other fronts this is a fun toy from the 2010s! And though he may not be as commonly beloved as his pretooled counterpart, this toy deserves some much more lave and attention and is well worth seeking out! At least i feel he is!

I have the earthrise repaint rn, but no repaint of a G1 megs will do this design justice IMO, I want a new mold from the ground up ideally.

The best rep we've gotten since the original was a little legion figure from the 2010's

TRANSFORMERS CYBERVERSE SPARK ARMOR SKYBYTE

Seems like 2025 is coming to a close, and as it seems to be looking now, this will be my final figure recieved this year! And as far as I'm concerned, not a bad way to cap it off! As skybyte is a personal fav of mine, and the only representation of his cyberverse self i own is the One-Step changer. And yeah this is also a simple kid appeal toy, but unfortunately as far as im aware, the best representation hes got!

All things considered, hes not a bad toy at all, simple sure, but not bad. Hes got the articulation of a beast wars basic toy, at thebsize of a modern core class toy... and an extremely simple transformation that works well enough for what it is. The main appeal of the toy is the whole spark armor gimmick, which is this little drill tank vehicle he comes with, which splits appart and plugs into various ports all over his body into weapons and armor. Which I will admit... is fucking badass actually! The proportions his armor gives him is really anime-esque and makes this simple toy feel way more dynamic than it actually is! Its a cool effect, and given the retail price, I'd say is worth the core robots simplicity...

So yeah. Want a fun little shark man? This is not a bad option if you can find it cheap! Wasn't a planned purchase on my end, but im glad I went for it anyway! Because in this day and age, we all need a little whimsy in our lives!
