5yo got an interactive globe from a friend for his birthday. He recently saw a traditional spinny one and wants that kind, too. He also has a telescope. We’re raising the 90s kid of our dreams.

My personality type is that when I’m watching old episodes of How It’s Made about toilet paper or plastic bottles or frozen lasagna or whatever with my kids, I want to know how the machine is made.

Yes! This! Interactions don't need to be transactional. It isn't all tit-for-tat and quid pro quo. Life doesn't have to be a series of favors owed and repaid. You can just be kind to people without expecting anything back. I wish more people understood this, especially those in positions of power.

4yo is big mad that Apple Music removed one of his favorite songs. This is how it ends for big tech. He will never forget.

I started a Baking Notification Project account. Go say hi. Tell me (over there!) about the best baked good you ever ate, the one you still dream about. Tag me (over there!) when you see a good croissant.

Search: 6 results found for "Sheeter*" Brod & Taylor is dedicated to bringing home chefs the appliances and tools they need to simplify the process of making fresh food from scratch.

Here’s a link to all of Brod & Taylor’s sheeters. I have the 15.5 one. It’s definitely an investment piece, but it’s really saved my wrists in rolling.

Oh wow, a bunch of friends just showed up. 👋🏻 Since I haven’t posted here in nearly a year, I’ll take this opp to say: You likely won’t find me here. After all those years glued to Twitter, I’m enjoying my time untethered from the internet way too much. Find me in a couple Slacks, text, and 🧁 Insta.

Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to
buy an envelope:
"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man.
You know, why don't you go online and buy
a hundred envelopes and put them in the
closet?
And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out
to get an envelope because I'm going to have
a hell of a good time in the process of buying
one envelope
I meet a lot of people. And see some great
looking babies. And a fire engine goes by.
And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask
a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and
I don't know. The moral of the story is -
we're here on Earth to fart around.
And, of course, the computers will do us out
of that. And what the computer people don't
realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing
animals. You know, we love to move around.
And it's like we're not supposed to dance at
all anymore."
Let's all get up and move around a bit right
now... or at least dance.

Project Diary: How we made the Wage Theft Monitor Documented fought for data about businesses that have stolen from their workers. Here's what you need to know to do the same

On Source, Max Siegelbaum tells how the Documented newsroom fought for data about wage theft in their state, and how you can do the same. It's a project that's pointing them to all sorts of crucial stories, because wage theft can indicate lots of other workplace problems, too.

Elder Millennial here. I learned on both analog & digital, and spent a lot of time listening to the radio in the car. I managed to match up “top of the hour” as near the start, but I don’t use “bottom of the hour.” When I’ve heard it, I thought it meant “near the end of the hour.” Totally wrong. 😂

The end, like in the last 10 minutes of the hour.

I have also either always thought this was the end of the hour or just ignored it and found myself confused when someone <looks at Ryan> left a call earlier than expected.

Closing 2023 by strengthening our community & our resolve We can't do this without supporters like you Connection. It’s the most important thing we can offer one another. As we celebrate our tenth year of coming together at SRCCON, we know firsthand wha...

"No organization is more worthy of support than this one. OpenNews is an island of sanity in an ocean of media crazy."

That's the first note we received on our donation page after we announced our end-of-year fundraising drive.

We are honored. Can you help, too?

I started the BNP as a side project TWO YEARS AGO (!!) this month, and it still brings me so much joy to know that it gives other people spontaneous little joys and connection in their neighborhoods.

Thanks for sharing, @jenburns70.bsky.social! 🧁
