4. A downbeat ending as Namor escapes. To be honest, so far it’s hard to root for the Avengers. I’m definitely #TeamHulk. Iron Man is just too convinced of his own brilliance (especially as in this issue he’s defeated by dust!) and Wasp needs to stop mooning over Thor in front of her boyfriend!

3. It’s always interesting to go back to times where the rules haven’t yet been established. At one point, Rick uses gamma rays to turn Hulk back to Bruce Banner and here it’s the excitement and stress that has him becoming puny Banner whereas usually we’d expect that to keep him Hulked out.

2. The Mallet of Thor just doesn’t sound as impressive, does it? Maybe useful if he’s off for a quick camping weekend, but best to stick to hammer, yeah? Same goes for club, as used elsewhere in the issue. Come on, Goldielocks!

1. Stark’s inventions get wilder. His image projector is Tony’s version of Loki’s thought projection we saw in issue one (or Doctor Strange’s psychic projection for that matter!) The difference here is that folk can interact with his holograms giving us quick cameos of the FF, Spidey and the X-Men.

Onto issue 3 in my #Avengersfromthebeginning read-through, assembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes one issue at a time. Sub-Mariner! Hulk on the run! Iron Man in the red and gold! Let’s go!

1. Chatty Hulk continues to delight me, although I’m not sure I want to read a comic when he *is* in the mood for spin the bottle.

I liked how peak Iron Man tech at this point was a transistor radio.

Dark Horse has been publishing Star Wars for years now. They took over the all-age licence from IDW who published it before. Marvel still publishes ‘adult’ SW books. The IDW and Dark Horse books were/are ‘all-age’ so it’s a different licence.

Four small shelves with various High Republic books and trinkets.

This week I said farewell (for now!) to the greatest publishing initiative and my favorite era in all of Star Wars, #TheHighRepublic. I’m beyond grateful for these incredible stories, but even more so for the wonderful community it created and the friends I made. It’s been a hell of a ride.

Just finished reading The Finale. What a fantastic issue. Bittersweet, hopeful, emotionally honest. Been such a great ride with these characters.

I love that in this issue you have all the stuff back home as Thor is fighting a troll on an unearthly plane. Talk about a tone shift!
