It's been a tough year for writers. For all creators. And as most of us are freelancers, it can be scary to admit when things aren't going well. You don't want to appear like a failure, even when you're just fighting an industry you can't control. (1/2)

Day three of my new novel and that's my writing done for the week, onto creative consultancy work tomorrow.

Happy with how it's gone so far. Only 800-odd words short of the 15k goal I set myself.

Day 2 on Project: Avarice. 5,271 words today, not all of them awful! Means I reached today's target and scraped back some of the words I didn't manage yesterday. Happy with that. #amwriting

Because it's not polished in any way. Other people call this the vomit draft. I just plunge ahead, writing without stopping to edit a single thing. Only when I reach the end will I go back and start shaping it.

Maybe I'll write another book with that title later! 😆

Pretty pleased with how it went. 3,662 words done. Didn't reach my goal, but it's only day one & I need to write myself into it.

Current plan is three solid writing days a week, meaning I should get Draft Zero finished by end of Jan. #amwriting

Pedantic I know, and there are Frankensteins that are horror, but this one isn’t.

Also, I think it’s a VERY long time since GDT has been simply been a horror director. Dark fantasy, yes. Gothic romance, yes. Fairy tale, yes. Straight horror? Not for years, I’d suggest.

Just seen someone online banging on about how everyone making the new Frankenstein forgot it was supposed to be a horror movie. I would say, no, they didn’t forget because this version was never supposed to be a horror. It’s a gothic romance.
