It's interesting that Riddell's supernatural tales comprised only a small fraction of her total literary output, but this plaque specifically commemorates her ghost stories. I wonder what she would have thought of this?

WIN a set of postcards of TV crime series as Penguin book covers. Simply guess which series is depicted on each cover. The earliest was broadcast in 1969. All originated on TV (so no Morse, Marple etc). Email sean@colemandesign.co.uk & I'll pick three from a digital deerstalker. Deadline: 10 Oct.

Today is the anniversary of the death of ethereal poet, Lionel Johnson, who died in 1902 aged 35. As well as introducing Lord Alfred Douglas to Wilde, he influenced Yeats. 'Incurable' is a collection of his work plus a biography by myself which the Gay & Lesbian Review described as a 'Masterpiece.'

Very surreal to see one of our pieces appear on Taskmaster (Channel 4) last night. Watch Reece Shearsmith discussing the amazing public information film 'The Spirit Of Dark And Lonely Water' (1973) before introducing a sign I made him a few years ago for his downstairs toilet.

UNREAD
There in a stack
Of irresistible potential
Mainly unread
But don't ask
"Why do you still buy When so many words
are not touched by your eyes"
Because
before the spine is cracked
Without my fingers touching pages, the ideas leak and spread around the room Seep through the ears
And into the synapses while I sleep
Listen carefully
You'll hear the hum
Of future thoughts becoming present

1) Either the ECHR significantly constraints government action. Then "it has to go because of that" means "we plan to, want to and will do things that are currently considered to violate human rights" or
2) Human rights protection remains the same. Then... why leave the ECHR?

Hey scumbags, Jews in Manchester have fuck all to do with Palestine or Israel. Commenting beneath news stories about dead British Jews with 'what about Palestinians?' is just fucking antisemitic bullshit. If you think Jews are your enemy, you are the enemy.
Jews are not Israel.

A yellow quad poster with a towering figure in the right hand corner - the titular wicker man
Today's #31horrorsoundtracks visits the island of Summerisle with THE WICKER MAN. Composer Paul Giovanni and the band Magnet combined original tunes with traditional British folk songs, resulting in a perfect soundscape; entrancing but uneasy with something lurking underneath. A truly musical film.
