20.07.2025 05:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0App suggested Tree Lichen Beauty & Small Ranunculus for these two but we are not so sure on either.
@mothiduk.bsky.social could you help us out please?
True, but that isn't looking very likely at the moment.
02.06.2025 18:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Alison said she wanted a Lifer from our trip to Shetland, I didn't even consider that it could be a Eyebrowed Thrush!
Day two, of 15. Not sure anything can top this though.

We went back with optics after work and he was back on the Marina, still a little distant but much better views.
Must remember to put the work binos back in the car.
Delighted to find this drake Smew near Brigg this morning. Initially on a break between jobs and without optics, distant and flushed along with 11 Goosander by a small boat they flew towards Cadney Reservoir.

The redhead Smew at Idle Valley GP's at the weekend.
We really enjoyed some super views of her.
Just need to work on the phonescoping a bit more though.

Black-throated Diver at South Muskham Pits
Very distant Slavonian Grebe at Kilvington
Common Buzzard, Job's Lane
A foray into Notts yesterday. Black-throated Diver at S.Muskam. The Slav Grebe was always distant at Kilvington.
Finished with a couple of Lincs year ticks at places we don't visit often, Millennium Green and Job's Lane.
A Buzzard in the last of the sun was quite nice.
We were very happy to find two Shore Larks at Crook Bank, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe NNR, this morning. Also a single Snow Bunting.

Thanks Steve, I will upload the details, just didn't want to duplicate if you had already done it.
Happy New Year. Enjoy the Lakes.
One of two CR Avocets at East Halton Skitter yesterday, both had same colour combo, but we couldn't get a read of the other.
I'm guessing @routledgesteve.bsky.social and/or @jondrakes.bsky.social will have logged the details already?
R-n grebe @ winters pond still too

Excellent. I need to sit down and work out Stig's life list with him sometime soon.

Although, given that my first was the Golden-winged, almost 36yrs ago just around the corner that probably isn't a great recordπ
30.12.2024 12:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Stig didn't entirely appreciate the 6+ hour wait for his first American warbler on Friday. The Yellow Warbler eventually gave us some great views though. Also Alison's first, and my second.

Maybe check you are set to English(UK) for common names.
Great, thanks for that. I can sense a plan coming on.

22.12.2024 15:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tough going at times for our Solstice birding @gibpoint yesterday. A lone Snow Bunting and a late Chiffchaff probably the best of the 60 species we got.
Shaky phonsecoped photos in the wind and rain
There may be an issue seeing one in many places.
Not seen any in Lincs for some years.
A personal challenge or aiming for a County Big Year record?
As to a plan, there's a bunch of birds that will take care of themselves just from being out regularly. Jan to March hit winter visitors, then vagrants and Summer migrants, autumn vagrants and mop up any missed winter visitors late on.
Great video. Hope it has helped edge John to his target too? π€

I've been putting some old notebooks into eBird recently and just got to these two, almost 16 years to the day since we saw them both in Lincolnshire - time flies!
