If pundits would like to talk about violence, a terrorist recently shot up the CDC and another assassinated Democratic officials in Minnesota but they sort of let both stories disappear
Not as threatening as motorbikes in DC I know but maybe we could circle back?
Thank goodness for storytellers.

I'm on the organizing committee for next year's @c19americanists.bsky.social conference in Cincinnati & what I can tell you about this year's theme is that it was the first thing anybody pitched & we were all, like, "Yep that's it."
The fastest I've ever seen five professors agree about anything.

Today, I had the chance to use this piece in a discussion group with my coworkers as part of a three-year grant in our museum. And it was so helpful!!

With special (surprise) guests)"
#wgssouth2025 is just days away! And while we can't wait to share ideas and learn from all our participants and attendees, we also can't wait to dance to 50 years serving our #wgs community!

Claudette Colvin was 15 when she defied segregation #OTD in 1955 by refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery city bus — 9 months before Rosa Parks did the same.
A court put her on probation & she was branded a troublemaker for her activism. #TheMarchContinues

To the right is the outline of a head with a brain in the middle, and to the right is an outline of a heart with a red heart in the middle.
Same image as the previous magazine cover image, but this one features the flap open, to reveal an image of a much older woman. She is naked, gaunt, and holding her hand up to her chest.
This abstract illustration is in black and white, and features multiple figures wearing or posing with the American flag in creatives ways (as a skirt, and draping a Statue of Liberty-esque drag figure.

Image Descriptions: Image 1: Blue background with the image of a Black woman wearing glasses, her chin resting, but determined, on her hand. The text reads, "WGS South is proud to present our 2025 keynote speaker, Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall." Below, there is an image of a megaphone and several of Dr. Guy-Sheftall's professional accomplishments. Image 2: This image features a list of select titles published by Dr. Guy-Sheftall over the course of her long career.
When your conference keynote speaker is as accomplished as Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall, there's nothing to be done but to include a second image listing just a fraction of her pioneering work(s)!
