I’m sick and tired of it—and I know I’m not alone.

Last night, folks in #NY21 rallied for my friend Brandi Lloyd.

And the urgency I hear is only growing:

We need to guarantee a safer, stronger, more affordable North Country. Now.

For kids like my Grandpa Tom in Hudson Falls and all of our neighbors across #NY21.

He made sure I knew each of you deserves the same shot he had. It’s why I will always believe you are worth fighting for—no matter who tries to stop me.

His life was a testament to what’s possible when we show up for one another, and when our country shows up for us.

That’s how we created the most prosperous middle class in the world—and that’s the America I still believe in.

Where each of us can live with dignity and thrive.

My grandfather sent money to his mom from his job in high school.

After he served in WWII, he returned to a country that kept its promise:

He used the GI Bill to attend Skidmore, spent 38 years teaching in Luzerne, and served on the Glens Falls Board of Safety under 5 mayors.

My Grandpa Tom was born in Hudson Falls during the Great Depression.

When his single mother couldn’t afford to raise him, his Aunt Lillian took him in.

His neighbors fed him through their back window, and because of their kindness, he met my grandmother—their daughter.

This morning, I stopped to meet @indivisible-adk.bsky.social in Glens Falls.

Mr. Scanlon pulled me aside to say he worked with my Grandpa Tom over in Luzerne.

I told him my grandfather’s life is why I believe everyone deserves a life of dignity and the freedom to thrive 🧵

I’m not interested in losing our democracy politely, and I’m sure as hell not interested in waiting for some consultant to tell me that’s the “right” thing to do.

If Texas Republicans want to cheat, we can’t just roll over and call it a day.
