well, if AI is doing the design - shouldn't we expect our future AI overlord to be giving themselves some extra hardware now..

it's as if AI traveled back from the future and started taking over everything a little extra early

for all the energy and magic that the initial development teams squeeze from the hardware, it's depressing to see the second generation of those teams succumb to the need to use ever more powerful hardware to do less and less.
