Truly amazing - yet how many of the people who need to hear it, understand it? If nothing else - it reminds us that the fight has been long and hard and not to let others who have sacrificed for it have done so in vain.

Canadian values usually mean fairness, human rights, pluralism, restraint in power, and collective responsibility. Carney tends to frame those as obligations, not branding asking whether we’re willing to pay real costs to uphold them. That’s not un-Canadian; it’s a harder reading of the same values.

One place that gap shows up is how Canada responds to Iran versus Israel. We speak forcefully about Iran’s abuses, but our language and consequences shift elsewhere.
Carney’s critique seems less anti-Canadian than a challenge to apply our stated values consistently, even when it’s uncomfortable

I hear the worry that Carney’s values don’t line up with Canadian values.

I don’t read it as rejecting them so much as pointing out the gap between what we say and what we’re willing to back with power and cost.

That tension is real and worth debating about openly.
