FYI, this will end up outing by name, many transgender folk who are not Out, and many LGBTQ folk who are not out.

And many other people who have lived experience with mental illness and other disabilities who are not β€œout” all given to some unknown unnamed non-employee, non MP. #cdnpoli

Open Letter to Protect Tri-Council EDI Data October 30th, 2025 Why do we need urgent action to protect our data? The mandate of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Science and Research is to review and report on topics relating to scien...

Conservative MPs (if the data is released) are simply going to find the opposite of what they believe the tri-council is doing.

Unless releasing the data isn't actually about "fairness" at all.

In fact, a substantial amount of federal research funding, even through the Social Science and Humanities Research Council, goes to disciplines like business administration.

Alberta’s Bill 18: Who gets the most federal research funding? Danielle Smith might be surprised by what the data shows The ideological war waged by Smith will only endanger high-quality research void of political interference from the government.

But, as @pinglamjoeip.bsky.social and I have written about extensively at this point, it is a complete myth that federal research funding is being unfairly allocated to "woke" or "leftist" research.

The data will include information that researchers provided with the understanding that it would remain confidential.

This includes demographic information on the applicants as well as peer review comments on applications.

🧡The Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Science and Research has put forward a motion to release ALL data in relation to federal research funding applications.

This motion was put forward by conservative MPs who are skeptical of funding being allocated "fairly."

Pretty clear the UCP strategy here is to keep nurses from going back to school by pricing them out of it. This ensures they don’t leave the workforce.

In reality, this will make the nursing educator shortage worse as well as patient outcomes.

It is yet again that time of year!

Exceptional tuition increase proposals at the University of Alberta have started to drop.

A potential 80% TUITION INCREASE in nursing for 2026.

Cheers to the UCP for making education accessible and affordable.

As back-to-school season approaches, Canadian employers are making a mistake by mandating workers back to the office Remote-work flexibility has supported workplace equity helped limit outbreaks of respiratory infections. Back-to-offices mandates could erase those gains, especially with lowered vaccination rates.

Today the Government of Alberta announced the end of remote/hybrid work, ordering all government employees back to the office five days a week beginning in February.

We wrote about why this is a mistake, and how it will disproportionately harm women.
