Owning the libs by letting ACA subsidies expire and refusing to employ emergency SNAP funds. This is very on brand for the GOP.

A societyโ€”that has 28 vacant homes per homeless person; has more than enough food while people go hungry; where the 1% owns 30% of all household wealth; and where 68k Americans die a year due to lacking healthcareโ€”is a failed society.

Democratic socialists lead the current 2028 Democratic primary polls when combining AOC and Bernie voters.

Trump wants Texas v. Johnson (1989) overturned. The case didnโ€™t merely deem flag burning to be free speech, but extended the First Amendment to protect other deeply unpopular forms of protest.

What happens when the state has the discretion of banning any acts of protest it deems unpopular?

The Supreme Court is planning to revisit Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which in 1982 was clarified by Congress to allow minorities to challenge electoral systems deemed racially discriminatory.

In the case of an adverse decision, POC could lose a major tool for fighting racist districting.

Iโ€™m running for the U.S. Senate.

Billionaires have taken over Texas and taken over America โ€” but together, we can take power back for working people.

Thus, while I absolutely agree that more should be done fiscally toward welfare issues, cutting away space funding is not the answer.

We can have a robust NASA budget and a robust welfare budget. This is not a zero-sum game.

The U.S. Dollar is a publicly monopolized fiat. The federal government is not deciding to spend X% of available funds in Americaโ€™s bank account on space instead of welfare.

In other words, Uncle Sam canโ€™t run out of money.

People often ask; โ€œwhy spend billions on space exploration when we could use that funding for people on Earth?โ€

Hereโ€™s why this is flawed. ๐Ÿงต

The GOP has proposed extinction-level budget cuts for NASA. Even Bill Nye is asking Congress not to gut the program.

Public space exploration drives innovation and research that spills over into the rest of society because itโ€™s not done for profit.

We must protect NASA!

The conditions laid out in the LinkedIn post describing hollow institutions are absolutely salient. I like when the article said โ€œInstitutions, like people, go through developmental stages, and sometimes they need to shed their illusions before they can grow into something wiser.โ€

Recognizing that authoritarian regimes can dismantle democracies through the democratic system itself means being better aware of the flexibility and insidious nature of Trumpism โ€“ a movement that can still be overcome if we act with the gravity of the problem.

It's critical to recognize that twenty-first-century fascism is distinct from the previous century; it may be hard to see it in its full capacity, but the grasp that autocracy has on our society cannot be understated or trivialized.

06.10.2025 23:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Democratic decline in the United States under Trump began with a free electoral system.

What a theory like autocratic legalism suggests is that an authoritarian regime can indeed be built upon the foundations of a liberal constitutionalism, to be phased out in favor of an illiberal regime.

06.10.2025 23:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trump and his movement have fulfilled nine of the ten stages that autocratic legalists advance toward full autocracy.

The final stage to full autocracy along the trajectory of autocratic legalism is the process and act of rewriting election laws and remaining in power indefinitely.

A genuinely progressive presidential candidate in 2028 (such as AOC) would absolutely beat the GOP. Voters want progressive leadership.

Look at his actions on immigration and ICE, his (unconstitutional) EO on jus soli, his EO attacking the idea of race as a social construct, the rhetoric around โ€œWoke,โ€ โ€œDEI,โ€ and โ€œCRT.โ€ The list goes on. This isnโ€™t just about power; itโ€™s deeply about whiteness.

06.10.2025 04:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 6    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

What we shouldnโ€™t fail to recognize is that Trump has developed a brand as a white unitary executive. His abuse of the Executive Vesting Clause (Article II, Section I) as president is indeed about power consolidation, but it goes into racial territory as well.

06.10.2025 04:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 7    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trump represents to conservative white Americans, a strong white leader capable of rectifying their racial anxieties. When we treat white supremacy and unitary executive theory as isolated, we miss the space in between.
